Thrifty Thursdays - Envelope Mini

I'm so excited about today's thrifty Thursday post! It was one of those happy accidents (don't you love when that happens?)  I have seen in a couple of places envelope mini albums that are accordion style and I had stored that idea away for later.  Well yesterday I thought I would sit down and figure out how those were made (since I had long lost where the idea came from!).  After a little frustration - I didn't figure it out BUT I came up with WAY better idea!  Seriously - this is like the easiest mini album ever I can't believe I haven't come up with this earlier!  And since this is made out of something we all have lying around - envelopes - I think it is the perfect thrifty Thursday project (even if it didn't come from the dollar store!)
Tutorial:
1. I used 4 envelopes for this project.  Starting with your first envelope - lay it flat with the pocket facing up and on the left.  Take your second envelope -  facing the opposite direction and insert the flap of the second envelope into the pocket of the first.  Ignore the flap of the first envelope until the entire book is made.  Note: I didn't glue the flaps into the pockets - my book is staying together great and the bonus of not gluing it is when you open it and close it there is a little bit of give so the book isn't as stiff - but you could glue it if you wanted!
2. Continue to add envelopes to the book in the exact same way you did the first one - by inserting the flap of the next envelope into the pocket of the page before it.
3. When you are done inserting your pages adhere the flap from the first envelope to the back of the last envelope.
4. Ta Da! The world's easiest mini is created!  Now embellish the front, add photos, and add journaling or more photos to the pockets!
And if you were wondering what that building is in the last picture and why I " (heart) Peace" - It's actually a picture of my alma mater - Peace College in Raleigh NC.  And I do indeed "heart" it!

Since I have a ton of envelopes of different sizes, this is a unique idea. Now I'm going to think about how to use it for my nephew's wedding.

I've already tossed one together (just the envelopes) and man was it easy. I have a massive box of envelopes ... perfect for this! I can even use this idea to make mini albums for Christmas. Yay!
