London Calling...

So we have an excessive amount of empty cardboard boxes laying around. I think they are leftover from online shopping for Christmas gifts and because we don't know where to recycle them they just sit there. So today I got the idea to cut up one of the boxes and use it as a base for a mini album. This is one of those projects where once I started I worked like crazy - I was "in the zone" and couldn't stop until it was done - 5 hours later and 1am in the morning here it is:Obviously I was playing around with layering - I think I pushed myself with this - way past my "it looks good" point and added more and more and I think it turned out great! My favorite part are those vintage London postcard stubs - they were perfect for this. And yeah there aren't any pictures - I've never been to London so I'm not really sure what I would do with this - I may turn it into a journal with inserted pages or find photos to go in it or more likely I will leave it as is and pull it out from time to time and just look at it.

And yeah I named the post after a Clash song - it's the first thing that pops into my head when I see this book...

That came out really nice. I'm in awe when draftees say they whipped something out in a few hours.

Beautiful, Melissa! I also want to add that possibly your recycling segment of your trash service will pick up the boxes. I love art as much as the environment, so I'm all about recycling. Thanks for sharing your creations. I am always inspired.

I love London so naturally I love this as well! The layering is perfect. There's so much going on, which is a great thing when you're working with such interesting materials. Wish I had your talent to put together something like this to help organize my pictures from my first trip to London. Hoping it won't be my last!

Too Awesome! The second I saw the post on Reader I had to click to open it right up - immediately the Clash started playing in my head (amusing because I was literally listening to that song yesterday!).

What an amazing album. I just love how it turned out and the look of the layers is ... wow! I love to layer, but I'm always afraid of that 'too much' point so I think I would get scared and stop or leave it!!

I am new to your blog. Found your through Pinterest.

I love your mini album! Upcycling and recycling is my favorite thing to do now. I look at all boxes, containers, packaging so differently now.

You've inspired a lot of us with this great journal/album.

I hear the Clash singing right now!
