Making My Way Back

For the 10 people who still check my blog - THANK YOU!!!  I know I have been gone for awhile.  I have been going through some health issues for the past year that have really zapped all of my creative energy (and my regular energy for that matter!).  Nothing too serious and hopefully something I'm beginning to pull my self out of.  Anyways - thanks for still checking!

Right now I'm working on getting a travel journal together for our Maine vacation.  I am working on a few travel journal related posts(some great ideas, at least one tutorial, and some tips) - so be sure to check back for that on Monday!

Weekend Travel Journal

If you remember I made this little journal a month ago for my shop.  The great thing about the shop is I have blank journals that I can use for spur of the moment trips! I decided to use this little blue journal for our weekend trip to the mountains.  Here is a peek inside:

Mixed Media Journal

So I promise not to make this blog ALL about my Etsy shop.  However I spent a lot of  yesterday working on this journal (available for purchase here) and I figured I might as well share it on the blog because even if you aren't interested in buying it you could always use it for inspiration!

This journal measures 4x6.  The covers are made from vintage book covers.  This little journal would be perfect for taking on a trip as a travel journal, used as a daily journal (or art journal), or would make a great mini scrapbook loaded with photos!  And did I mention it was for sale? (lol) You can buy it here.

Beautiful Day Mini Album

So I spent the weekend working on this mini book. It's bright and cheery - part vintage part new and super cute. I filled it with photos from my nephew's 1st birthday party.

October Travel Journal - In Progress

Dustin and I are planning to take a trip to the mountains soon for our anniversary (which was October 13th) so I have been in the process of creating a travel journal. I'm not sure what I like better - traveling or creating a travel journal and looking for things to put in it! I am not quite where I want to be with this one but I do have a few photos to share: I made the cover out of a dictionary that I ripped the covers off of and glued a piece of paper to the side that was torn. Because I liked the cover as is I didn't want to put a title on it - I added some stickers to the bottom corner and I plan on adding something else just not quite sure what at this point. And fyi the cover isn't photography well because I mod podged it and the light is causing a glare. Hopefully I can take better pictures sometime later to show you! Here is the title page - I just layered stickers and paper and added some vintage photo distress ink. This is as far as I've gotten so far - if you want to see all my posts about travel journals including the one I made in August and the one I did last year click here.

Creativity Project Days 17 & 18

I didn't have time to blog yesterday, however I did manage to make something: I'm working on a travel journal so here is a peek at it: And today I did an art journal page with some water colors I bought today. I haven't used the watercolors in the tube before so I basically was just playing around with those. This week is going to be crazy with Class Kickoff at Memories Galore on Saturday! Hope to see you there!

More Travel Journal

Day 3: We went to the Badlands, fed prairie dogs, and went to Wall Drug (which is this fantastic tourist trap). This entry was by far the longest as I took TONS of pictures and picked up a lot of postcards.

The first half...

So I woke up this "morning" (because really it was 11) and noticed I had received a lot of page views already today. And all I would like to say about that is - Geez mom cool it with the page hits... you know I sleep in... I'll post the pictures when I get to it.... haha... see it's funny.... because only my mom reads my blog....oh well... I thought it was funny anyways...

So here is the first half of the travel journal. Why only the first half? Because I still need to take photos of the second half! Yes I am really dragging this out!

The first page - a picture of Dustin and I from the trip that I really liked. And because I'm really bad with title pages it just says "you & me South Dakota 2010"Day one: just a short entry about the trip and a Rapid City post card:
Day 2: We went to the Berlin Wall (YES Rapid City has a piece of the Berlin Wall.. how random is that?), Dinosaur Park and the Chapel in the Hills in Rapid City. Since it was really the first day of our trip I went a little crazy with the post cards. I learned to edit a bit more somewhere in the trip. WOW that was A LOT of pictures! I am just going to end the post here... I will post more pictures tomorrow!

It's all coming together...

My travel journal is almost finished! I just have to add the last page about my super fun airport adventure (said with much sarcasm!). But until then see how much it has grown:

It started off tiny and basic:
And now it's huge!: I will post pictures of the inside tomorrow so check back then!

Travel Journal Progress

We are only on day 4 of our South Dakota vacation and I have already taken almost 500 photos! I would love to share some of those now however I am working off Dustin's super tiny laptop and I can barely see the photos and editing them is impossible! So expect a week of posts next week detailing our trip with lots of fun photos. In the mean time here is the progress on my travel journal. I have picked up lots of fun stuff to put in it so far - those flattened pennies, patches, post cards, pins and more! I will do more detailed posts when I get home and can put in the photos. But until then enjoy these images:
