Summer Studio Makeover Week 11

My studio is now 99% done!! YAY!!  The floor is completely clear.  Stuff is in its place (for the most part!).  If you are a facebook fan you saw that I hung up art on one of my walls.  I also decorated one of my other walls which is what I am sharing with you today.  I really wanted to incorporate some of my collection of vintage stuff - cameras, photos, paper goods.  I hung shelves above my windows and metal pottery barn shelves on the wall (which quite frankly were a giant waste of money and are really only good for what I did with them - they aren't very practical!)

So what do I have left?  I few more staging and decorating projects.  I have one more blank wall I need to figure out - and a chair! I need a new chair!  I'm currently using one of my dining room chairs which doesn't match and needs to go back to the dining room!  Hopefully I will have pictures of the whole completed studio soon!

Saturday Finds

I spent yesterday doing my favorite thing - looking for great vintage finds!  Here is just a sampling of what I came back with:
Books - tons and tons of books!  Two giant box fulls to be exact! Lots of children's books that will become ephemera packs in my shop!
12 large circus souvenir books from the 70s/80s.  Great circus images - still not sure what I am going to do with these!
And my favorite - a stack of tobacco felt flags.  I don't know much about these other than they were given out in the early 1900s to promote cigarettes.

I also picked up a few travel guides and a huge stack of postcards.  I have already posted a bunch of postcards and look for the other items to pop up in my Etsy shop soon!

What's New in the Shop

I listed OVER 100 items this week!  You are going to definitely want to check out what's new in the shop!

Just in time for the 4th of July (or last week's Memorial Day activities).  4 in stock.  Get them while they last!

Summer is the time for road trips!  What road trip wouldn't be complete without a travel journal and these ephemera packs are great for adding a touch of vintage charm to your memories.  Oh and did I mention - I now have them in ALL FIFTY states!! And a few cities too such as - San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, Washington DC, and New Orleans.

These travel journals are what I am most excited for!  They were inspired by my love of vintage photographs and my curiosity about the lives the women in the photos must have led.  These simple 4x6 journals come with 15 blank kraft sheets and are great bases for travel journals, daily journals, or art journals!  They are great with my international travel ephemera kits - now available in most European countries as well as Mexico and a few of the Canadian provinces.

I love these little autograph books! This one is from 1943 Brooklyn PS 25. I also have one from 1936 Brooklyn PS108.  They are filled with cute little sayings and signatures like:
You can forget candy
You can forget toys
But I bet you $10
You can't forget boys

Great Vintage Find

I checked out a new (new to me) antique store this weekend and I found this:

I was beyond excited!! And it didn't have a price tag on it so when I asked for a price I got a great deal - which I am pretty sure was due to the fact that I look 12! This looking young really works in situations like this - if you look 12 then clearly you are poor which means you get awesome cameras like this for cheap.  Oh and I bought this because it has a large viewfinder and I can take "through the viewfinder" (ttv) photos.  - which is totally a real thing.  Check out this post by Pink Couch - it's why I was on the hunt for one of these cameras!

Simple Notebook Update

I found this pack of three Moleskine kraft journals at the local Barnes and Noble and got the idea to "decorate" them with a vintage photos matted on black cardstock.  I love this photo of these girls standing in a lake with fishing poles - I thought it was kind of cool and different.  Its a simple project but I like how it dressed up the plain notebook!

The photo came from my Etsy shop.  You can get your own vintage photos here.

World Traveler ATCs

I love making ATCs (artist trading cards). I think I do my best work on smaller spaces. These are easy and quick to make. I made this World Traveler set using one of my Tiny Ephemera Kits available in my Etsy store. It's the perfect amount of vintage materials to make 4 ATCs or create fun embellishments for scrapbooking or mini albums. For these I added some kraft cardstock from my own stash and some vintage photo distress ink and here is what I came up with:

Beautiful Day Mini Album

So I spent the weekend working on this mini book. It's bright and cheery - part vintage part new and super cute. I filled it with photos from my nephew's 1st birthday party.

I can't think of a title

My least favorite thing about blogging is coming up with a creative title for your post - I'm bad at it - and once you have been blogging for awhile you can't really do another "Vintage Tag" post - well you can but you probably should come up with a different title, which right now I can't think of. Anyways, I've been spending a lot of time recently in thrift/antique stores looking for unique things to make stuff with. For this tag I used a little notebook from 1897 that I found.

To Have and To Hold Tag

I'm back! Ok so technically I was only away for like a day - but it felt like FOREVER! I wasn't able to make anything all weekend because I was "cleaning". Which really just means I moved all my crap upstairs to the craft room and i have been trying to sort through it all. But I keep getting distracted - first by the ribbon project and then on Sunday I bought a new craft table! I am SUPER excited about that because the table I had up there was plastic and I never work in that room because the table sucks so I'm hoping this will help me want to use that room more often! Anyways hopefully I will have that clean soon. Back to the tag I made:I was up in my craft room looking for inspiration - usually I look through my papers and try to find something I am interested in using - but then I remembered this:A vintage bride and groom I found at an antique store the other weekend in the mountains. I was SO excited when I found it! Like super super excited! I have been looking for a reasonably priced one for forever. I think I saw a picture in a magazine a couple years ago where someone had a collection of them - it was so cute I have kept that in my head and have been looking for one (or two or three) ever since! So anyways - I used them as inspiration and used basic grey cappella line which has a vintage flair to it to make a tag:And I know you like the tags and want to make one yourself! Make one, post it on your blog and then link it up to my Tag Linky Party here! You have until November 3oth - so get working on those tags!
